San Vito lo Capo is one of the best places to visit in Sicily, especially for families with kids.

Once you get to the airport of Palermo, you have to take the highway Palermo-Mazara del Vallo, then exit Castellammare del Golfo and keep on driving for about 50km. Once in San Vito Lo Capo, you’ll be spoiled for choice about booking a hotel or accommodation. Vacation rentals, family hotels, b&bs, there’s plenty of choice there.

It will not be hard to find something right close to the beach, which is certainly recommended to families with children because of shallow waters, fine white sand, crystal clear… awesome!

Then if you want you can make excursions to the nearby Zingaro Nature Reserve, the Faraglioni (Stacks) of Scopello, to experience one of the most beautiful sicilian corners. You can take a boat, the tour takes about 1 hour and a half. On board you’ll have water and there’s always a first aid kit for you or your kid. Pay attention because the sea becomes very deep, then put some inflatable armrests or a life jacket to your son. But don’t miss the experience: wonderful landscapes, caves, coves, little bays, wild mediterranean vegetation all around… it worths a visit!

In the evening you will see how lively San Vito is, there are plenty of restaurants, pizzerias, shops and beautiful toys for children.
Try the cous cous, one of San Vito’s specialties, as well as fresh fish and fantastic icecreams!

San Vito lo Capo: Visiting the surroundings

Moreover, if you have a car (if you don’t, there are lots of car rental), you may also visit the surroundings, such as Castellammare del Golfo, or dive into the past enjoying a walk in Erice, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy: if you get there, don’t miss to taste the specialties of Erice, the “Pasta di Mandorla” (almond paste) from Mrs Maria Grammatico, a very nice lady who has the original secret recipe, more than a hundred years old (the recipe, not the lady!).

San Vito and its surroundings are definitely one of the best place to spend holidays in Sicily with children, a perfect meltin pot of what Sicily is: sun, sea, culture, history and warm welcome!

San Vito lo Capo: Where to sleep and eat

There’s plenty of accommodation in San Vito lo Capo and solution for every need: self catering apartments for group of friends, b&b for young couples and luxury hotels for the most demanding customers. Maybe the best solution for couples with babies can be found on Family Friendly Resorts in Sicily Holiday Finder.

About restaurants, just pick one along Savoia street, the main one, and enjoy fish specialties: we recommend the “Cozzaro” and the “Syrah”.
