Holidays at Il Piccolo Noce, accommodation in Umbria

1

Love at first sight!

That was the feeling Milena and Klaas felt, once they met with the small walnut tree that still stands in the garden of their country house. Umbria is the green centre of Italy, an ideal region for families who spend their holidays in full contact with nature, heritage and city of art. The Italian-Dutch couple decided to abandon the frenetic metropolitan life to move to a rural one, in order to share with guests the best of the Italian countryside. That’s the beginning of Il Piccolo Noce tale.

The resort

Il Piccolo Noce opened after a couple of years of detailed and accurate renewals in August 2011. The old materials, such as stones, woods and manger were renovated and brought to a new life, by Klaas and a team of a local builder. The resort was an ancient country house and now it has been divided into 5 beautiful and warm apartments, each decorated with a spice theme: Basil, Lavender, Saffron, Cinnamon and Sage.
All apartments are self-catered and fully equipped in order to make easier your stay.

What we like

We had a marvellous staying there! Milena and Klaas welcomed our family with a huge smile and had prepared some fresh milk, organic yoghurt and some local goods that came from close farms. After a long journey with your toddler and pet, this “welcome kit”  immediately brought us at home. Even if the resort lays in the middle of nowhere, it’s in a central position, so that guests might feel free to relax and play in the open air with kids, enjoy a BBQ or plan new itineraries for the next day.

Good to know

  • How to get there: by train Chiusi-Chianciano Terme is the closest train station. By car A1 highway, exit Chiusi-Chianciano, follow the direction Perugia, then Piegaro and Tavernelle, on road N.220 until Pietrafitta.
  • Children facilities: no playground on site, but kids can play in the great garden. On request, the resort provides with full baby equipment (cradle, folding bed, baby chair)
  • Nearby activities: the resort is completely surrounded by wild nature. During olive or grape harvest guests could help and enjoy themselves as “Farmer of the Day“. MTB, carp fishing and golf lessons upon request.
  • Best attraction: Trasimeno Lake and its 3 cute islets Polvese, Maggiore and Minore, where you can arrange a boat trip @30km far. Piegaro Glass Museum where mom and dad could even decide to marry through a civil wedding @10km far. Perugia and the most famous Assisi and Spello @50-60km far.
