Some places are more than simple hotels or holiday homes. Have you ever tested an accommodation where the wellbeing, the love for family and the environment are the core of your staying? Among these unique places, Eco Park Hotel Azalea, nestled in the heart of Val di Fiemme, Trentino, is the best hotel for your family vacation close to the Dolomites.

At Azalea, the love for guests, health and nature transpire in every single detail. In every dish served to your table, and in the daily smile with which everyone is welcomed either. So, when you discover such a place, it’ll be tough to come back home.

It sounds like a dream. But it’s real!

Where is the Eco Park Hotel Azalea located?

This unforgettable eco-hotel is located among the most beautiful alleys of Cavalese, in the centre of Val di Fiemme (Fiemme Valley), in the eastern part of Trentino.
Cavalese is the main town of Fiemme Valley, and it stands between the superb Lagorai Massif and the Dolomites. In the city centre, families travelling with kids in the Dolomites can find plenty of facilities, shops and attractions.

The Eco Park Hotel Azalea stands in the historic area of Cavalese, and it is less than ten minutes walk from the Cermis’ cable car, the Parco della Pieve (a vast green area with lots of playground for kids) and the pedestrian centre. Located in a somewhat secluded street, it has a parking area where you can leave your vehicle and quickly explore the territory by public transport, bicycle, e-bike or by feet.

The history and renovation of the hotel

In the lounge of the Azalea Hotel, there are old framed photos revealing the story of the hotel itself and the family who run it through the years. The roots of the Eco Park Hotel Azalea are gathered into the arms of two generations: those of Manuela – who is heading the hotel today – and her parents, who began the hotelkeeper career in 1936.

“At the beginning, the Azalea was a small hotel. Certainly more traditional in the look and feel, but we did not lack the passion to make things right” Manuela told me while we were hiking together on the Cauriol peak, in the Lagorai Massif. “But when the head of the business came to me, I was not sure how to do it. I’m an architect. I have always done another job, but I love design, nature and I need the distill the same passion into everydaylife and into my business. So, as I threw myself in the management of the Azalea Hotel, I knew I had to transform it. And so I did.”

Manuela renewed the hotel with her great passion for design and architecture, leveraging on removable energy, moreover on the concept of hospitality and green & slow philosophy.

Eco Park Hotel Azalea is now certified with the EU Ecolabel, and it’s the only hotel in the valley to have reached this important goal. The love for natural materials blends harmoniously into the environment in which it is immersed.

Wood and natural light dominate in all its spaces. Natural light permeates in every room thanks to the large windows that let in the sun above Cavalese and the Lagorai Massif.

During summer, the hotel smells fresh – like lavender and rosemary – thanks to the aromatic herbs that grow in the garden.

A special menu suitable for kids, vegan and vegetarian

Families can find tasty dishes in many places, but if you want to prepare healthy and super yummy food for our guests, we have to go further and do more.

Manuela strongly believes in this assumption, so she hired Paola, the Chef – the undisputed queen of the kitchen – to create a menu that can be remembered by the hotel’s guests for its flavours, beauty and authenticity. So along with the renovation of the rooms, the approach to food has also changed.

Between the two women there is mutual trust, the kind where a glance is enough to understand each other, and, when two people are driven by the passion for doing more and more, precious partnerships can only be born.

Fresh fruits, homemade sweets and much more

The Chef Paola has a past as an agronomist and botanist, and thanks to this experience, she has put herbs, and local raw food into every dish served. The menu offers traditional mountain dishes, reinterpreting them in a creative, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free way.

It is a challenge to new tastes. A cuisine able to enchant children, but also those who are more reluctant to welcome new flavours. Our favourite dish? Pappardelle with a ragout of lentils… so good that we didn’t miss the taste of meat. Or, the Peppa Pigs pasta – prepared for the kid’s menu with beetroot sauce – and other tricks to make the little guests eat healthy and genuine, going beyond the classic schnitzel and fries.

Believe me, there is nothing more beautiful than realising, it is possible to feed yourself in a tasty but natural way. They are doing something good for your body. Savoury pies, seeds, berries, velvety, never to forget vegetables, eggs or legumes. Everything presented to us was merely yummy, healthy and delicious.

Family facilities at Eco Park Hotel Azalea

There are many hotels described as family-friendly, but Eco Park Hotel Azalea is perfect for children. It is not enough to have childproof crockery, high chairs and cots in the room. What impressed the most our little men was the warmth feeling perceived everywhere in the hotel.

The bathrooms are equipped with a footstool to quickly get to the sink, coloured plastic glasses in the room and the shower at kids height.

Furthermore, a playground area next to the lounge – separated, but not too much – where kids can play while their parents are tasting the local liquors or the herbal tea made with baobab fruits is a plus.

The gem, capable of winning over even the timidest children, is the garden, perfect for play, relax, have fun. In the garden, which is a real park, children can find a sandbox, a slack-line, a football pitch, a trampoline and a small wood house. A real toy-land where kids can have fun, both with entertainers or with mum and dad until bedtime. In complete safety.

Isn’t this beautiful?

The rooms at Eco Park Hotel Azalea

We stayed at the Azalea several times, and we always stayed in a family room with a balcony, equipped with a double bed, a sofa-bed for Federico and a cradle for Giacomo. Every room has a large window, a terrace and plenty of facilities.

The rooms are entirely sustainable. They think green. With rock wool on the floor and wood on the walls to make the atmosphere unusually warm, quiet and cosy. There are very delicate floral details about the typical Azalea style and which give the room that touch of familiarity that never hurts.
The bathroom has a spacious and colourful shower that is very convenient to bath the little ones. Everything is spotless, and there are ecological and sustainable soaps. In the room, guests are asked to respect the Azalea’s philosophy, with an invitation to avoid waste.

At the Azalea, there is also a small but very cosy wellness area where only mom and dad can enter and relax with a Turkish bath, sauna, shower and sensory journey. A special mention is required for the daily activities programmed, including yoga (practised at dawn and in the afternoon) in the garden.
