Accommodation in Tuscany for families

Tuscan countryside, with its gentle hills, medieval villages, vineyards, olive groves and Cyprus trees, is one of the world’s most picturesque rural landscapes.  So, if you are planning a vacation in Tuscany, you won’t be wrong. It is a fantastic family destination.

Tenuta di seripa dawn on hills

Right in the middle of this idilliac landscape, I have found out a charming yet famil-friendly countryhouse: Tenuta di Seripa, located in Sassetta, a characteristic village perched on the tuscan hills and surrounded by chestnut woods. Sassetta is one hour drive form Pisa, two hours drive from Florence and only 40 minutes from the amazing Etruscan Coast, whose sea is awarded each year with the prestigious European Union’s “Blue Flag”.

This countryside has literally stolen my heart. Rosemary scent, breathtaking views, silence, space…

And the feeling to have time. Time to think, to enjoy my family, to take a swim in the pool, to read a book, to contemplate an amazing nature…. This is real luxury, nowdays. Don’t you think?

Just imagine yourself languidly sit on the terrace, surrounded by amazing lanscapes, sipping a glass of Italian wine while your kids play in front of you.  No tablet, no tv, no electonic games. Just them running in the huge lawn, rolling themselves in the grass, chasing lizards or even fireflies. Oh yes. Here, at Tenuta di Seripa, you can still admire them. Or, it might happen to spot a fox from the veranda. Or to take a picture at wild pigs while they look for some refreshement in the just watered lawn. Wouldn’t it be a marvellours holidays?

You can decide to spend the entire vacation in the tenuta, enjoying the pool, the sun, the silence and the good food. Or you can explore the beautiful sorroundings. Massimo, the owner, will be glad to arrange for you bike and horseback tours, trekking activities, farmhouse visits or wine testings. Within easy reach from the estate, you can visit Pisa and Florence, the Etruscan Coast, the Val di Cornia Parks and lots of small villages such as Suvereto, Castagneto Carducci and  Massa Marittima.

The property

The estate consists of a farmhouse, the owners’ house and a detached cottage with two apartments. The farmhouse is a traditional tuscan stone building, finely restored. On the first floor, there are six bedrooms, one of wich with private entrance, a terrace and a Jacuzzi pool. All rooms are all finely decorated, with traditional furniture and a fantastic view.

On the ground floor, there is the cosy restaurant, the living room, a beautiful veranda and a panoramic terrace which  is nicely set up for breakfast and dinner, when the weather is nice. Also, on the same floor, there is what they call ” the suite with garden”. In fact, it is a 90 mq flat, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a studio and a large kitchen. The perfect solution for a family. Finally, the detached cottage is composed of two independent apartments, with a private garden, ideal for families with small babies.

The whole estate is characterised by fine details and the owners’ love for Tuscany. Yet, it is extremely kids-friendly in its semplicity…

If you travel with a large group of people, you may want to rent the whole countryhouse, making it a pleasurable and affordable vacation.

The food

If you like Italian food, then you will not be disappointed. The chef Juri will only use fresh ingredients, preparing mostly tradional tuscan recepies. Meat, fish, pasta, homemade bread, delicious desserts. And, of course, local wine! This is not the ideal place if you are on a diet! For the youngest, no worries. Pasta with fresh tomato or olive oil is always available.

What we like

Massimo, the owner, has a real passion about this place. And you can feel it all around. We have deeply appreciated his semplicity and his hearty hospitality. Furthermore, he has two kids; this means that he really knows how to treat his youngest guests. The landscape is just fantastic. Tenuta di Seripa is a perfect blend of nature, perfect location, traditions and gastronomy. A place that will make everybody happy. Kids and adults alike.
